MIFARE DESFire 4K Smart Card

MIFARE DESFire is the ideal choice for applications that demand a perfect balance of speed, card performance and cost efficiency. It features a 3DES or AES hardware cryptographic engine for confidentiality and integrity protection of transmission data.

It also offers a mutual three-pass authentication technique, a flexible memory organization structure and an automatic anti-tear mechanism. Gallagher programmable cards are printable and punchable, manufactured from PVC material in an ISO format.

DESFire EV2

The DESFire EV2 is a contactless smart card that allows multiple applications to be stored on the same chip. It is designed to work with a variety of systems and manufacturers, making it an ideal choice for closed-loop payment solutions. The chip also has an on-chip backup management system and mutual three pass authentication, ensuring the highest security level. Its memory size is unlimited, allowing up to 28 different applications and 32 files per application to be stored. It also has an automatic anti-tear mechanism that guarantees transaction oriented data integrity.

The MIFARE DESFire EV2 card can be used in many different applications, including access control and identity cards for public transportation, ticketing, cashless vending, and loyalty cards. It can be easily integrated into new and existing systems, thanks to its open standard approach. Its flexible key credential architecture also allows it to be used in different systems without compromising security.

One of the most important features is its backward compatibility with EV1. This allows an institution to upgrade to a newer generation Newbega RFID Card of MIFARE products and still use their old readers. It also supports MiSmartApp, a delegated key management system that enables new apps to be added to the card without sharing the master key. This gives users more flexibility in their use of their card, and helps prevent unauthorized transactions.

DESFire EV1

The DESFire EV1 is the first evolution of NXP’s industry-leading MIFARE contactless IC family. It is designed for diverse applications including access control, public transportation and loyalty cards. The multi-technology credential allows customers to economically improve site security overtime by introducing MIFARE smartcard technology, whilst maintaining support for legacy readers onsite utilising 125 kHz proximity technology. It provides state-of-the-art security and privacy features to help protect private data whilst also supporting new business models such as open-loop e-payment services, citizen engagement or closed-loop ticketing.

The MIFARE EV1 chip supports 28 different applications (up to 32 files) with a maximum file size of 256 KB per application. The EV1 can be moderated to follow ISO/IEC 7816-4 commands and has the ability to handle up to 4 different operating modes.

This version of the EV1 chip improves the security of crypto operations against side-channel attacks. It also adds a Proximity ID feature that helps to ensure that the card is close to the reader and that it cannot be accessed remotely with an unauthorised data stream.

Unlike other NFC contactless technologies, DESFire EV1 can be backward compatible with EV2 cards. This is important because it gives institutions the option to upgrade to EV2 when their system providers are ready to do so. The EV2 chips have several advantages over the EV1 version, including longer read range and increased security.

DESFire EV3

The DESFire EV3 is the second evolution of the MIFARE DESFire IC family. It offers a perfect balance of speed, performance and cost efficiency. This makes it the ideal choice for access control cards, public transportation tickets and loyalty cards. It is also compatible with NXP’s cloud-based service MIFARE 2GO, which manages digital authorisations on smartcards, tags and smartphones.

Designed for a range of applications that require the highest levels of security, DESFire EV3 cards feature a high level of protection against attacks like spoofing and hacking. They utilize a unique combination of security features, including AES128 encryption, secure channel-based file transfer and proximity checking to protect against man-in-the-middle attacks. They also offer a portable Secure Identity Object (SIO) data model for added key diversification and authentication signatures.

In addition to its extensive set of security features, DESFire EV3 is also Common Criteria EAL 5+ certified and supports a variety of open crypto algorithms. It also includes a card generated MAC and Transaction Timer feature to make it more difficult for attackers to interfere with a transaction.

HID DESFire EV3+ Prox cards provide a seamless migration path from legacy low-frequency 125 kHz systems to modern mifare desfire 4k and secure credentials. They feature dual technology that maintains interoperability with existing readers onsite, so system owners can migrate to new reader technologies on their own schedule and budget.

DESFire 4K

The MIFARE DESFire 4K is the latest evolution of the MIFARE DESFire IC family, introducing new features along with enhanced performance for best user experience. This contactless IC is Common Criteria EAL5+ security certified – the same security certification level demanded for smart card IC products used e.g. for banking cards or electronic passports. The DESFire 4K offers 3DES and modern AES encryption for the highest possible contactless security of your data. Furthermore, a built-in anti-tear mechanism protects your card against accidental damage.

The DESFire 4K is an ideal choice for customers looking to combine a variety of applications in one contactless smart card and maintaining support for legacy readers onsite utilising 125 kHz proximity technology. The DESFire 4K is designed for access control and biometric identification, cashless vending, public transportation, ticketing, and loyalty cards.

HID MIFARE DESFire cards are available with visual security and anti-counterfeiting features such as holograms, ultra-violet fluorescent inks or microprinting to help prevent fraud by enabling the cardholder to quickly identify genuine cards. Cards can also be produced with a photo or custom logo to make them more personal and attractive to use.

These PVC ISO-Sized Cards have a high quality PVC core and overlay giving the very best results when personalizing with standard card printers. The cards are finished with a glossy coating to further aid in personalization and have a slot punch vertically for easy placement into an ID card holder or strap clip. Each card is quality checked at every stage – materials, specifications, collation, lamination, cutting and a final QC including a 100% chip test to ensure consistent and reliable performance.
