Alloy Steel Casting:

Alloy steel casting is a fairly new technique, only having been around since the last century. It’s an improvement over traditional casting methods because it allows for more accurate parts with less scrap and waste. This is possible because of modern technology. 

Generally speaking, alloy steel casting is made by adding other elements like carbon, manganese, and chromium to the standard carbon steels. When this happens, the metal becomes stronger and more resistant to wear and tear.

Here are some things you need to know about alloy steel casting:

Alloy steel is different from carbon steel. The latter is simply iron with carbon added. Alloy steel has other elements added as well. In addition to iron, alloy steel contains one or more other elements such as aluminum, nickel, copper, chromium, titanium, tungsten, manganese, and molybdenum. 

Each element included in alloy steel contributes distinct qualities that enhance its performance in certain applications.

There are different types of alloy steel. Low-alloy steels have up to 8% of total alloys. Medium-alloy steels have between 8% and 25% total alloys. High-alloy steels have over 25% of total alloys.
